For most projects, PLA is the go‑to choice because it’s easy to print, reliable and gives good detail - but more advanced materials like PETG or ABS are better for stronger, functional parts.

Beginners usually start with PLA filament because it prints at lower temperatures, sticks well to the bed, and rarely warps - making it the most user‑friendly option.

PLA is easy to print and great for general models or prototypes, while PETG offers extra strength, flexibility and heat resistance for tougher parts.

Most desktop printers handle common filaments like PLA and PETG, but always check your printer’s temperature range and hotend type to be sure.

Keep filament in a cool, dry place - ideally in a sealed bag with desiccant to avoid moisture absorption, which can cause poor print quality.

Filament can absorb water from the air, which leads to bubbles or weak extrusion, so good storage helps maintain print quality.
